Mother’s Day gift guide/Elle Decor

While the calendar may dictate that Mother’s Day falls on May 8 this year, we do happen to agree with the legions who believe that mothers should be celebrated every day. But still, hats off to whoever came up with the idea of having a dedicated 24 hours where Mom is number 1, commercialized holiday or not. It means that on this day some recognition is required, whether it’s via a handmade card, a sweet note, an extra long hug, breakfast in bed, or a trinket (perhaps packaged in a coveted orange or blue box). So read on for a...

Shagun Chowdhary, Rima Suqi, New York Times
Entertaining with Shagun Chowdhary/T the New York Times

Shagun Chowdhary, an Olympic trap shooter from India, hosted a party at her family's farm on the outskirts of Jaipur. Originally a reason to toast the newly married couple Neha Luthra and Samarth Kasliwal (son of the late jeweler and Gem Palace co-owner Munnu Kasliwal, it also turned into a celebration of her qualifying for the world championships held last week in Lima, Peru. Pretty magical. Read all about it here....

Esme Hotel, Miami, Rima Suqi, Jessica Schuster
Esme and Matanza Hotels in T/The New York Times

For her first-ever hotel project, the Manhattan-based interior designer Jessica Schuster took on a doozy, or rather, two of them: Over the last five years, she re-envisioned a pair of Miami Beach boutique hotels, the Esmé and Casa Matanza, both backed by the New York-based firm Infinity Hospitality and located across the street from each other on South Beach’s Española Way promenade. The 145-room Esmé’s interiors were meant to be “softer and sweeter,” Schuster says, while at 42 rooms, Casa Matanza is “darker and moodier,” but in both, Schuster employed a color palette of saturated citrus and jewel tones, and...

how a polyurethane cactus captured the hearts of collectors everywhere
The polyurethane cactus that captured the heart of collectors/Elle Decor

Italy is probably not the first country that springs to mind when it comes to succulent populations but, believe it or not, Italians are directly responsible for one of the most recognizable cacti on the planet: a 67-inch-tall flexible polyurethane specimen, originally designed as a hall rack, that debuted in 1972 and is in the permanent collection of museums across the globe—not to mention its cameo on our most recent cover. Designed by Guido Drocco and Franco Mello and produced by Gufram, a company whose whimsical, spongy furniture collection became synonymous with the Italian radical design movement, the soft and thornless...

A glam Drake Anderson living room in Mansion/The Wall Street Journal

“Rich minimalism” is the phrase used by Drake/Anderson, a New York City design firm, to describe the interiors of this sprawling apartment on a high floor in an iconic Tribeca tower in Manhattan. The owners, a couple with homes on both coasts, are repeat clients of the firm. They bought two 3-bedroom units from the building’s preconstruction plans and combined them to create a 7,300 square-foot four-bedroom aerie with its own gym and wine cellar. The resulting apartment has two great rooms, “east” and “west.” See one of them, and the cost breakdown, here....

Ardmore’s new wallpapers in AD PRO

A mother leopard helps her cub climb into a tree. Elephants parade to a watering hole. Giraffes outstretch their svelte necks to nibble leaves at the tip-top of a tree, while zebras frolic nearby. These enchanting scenes of everyday life in the bush grace Jabula, the latest collection of Ardmore wallpapers produced in collaboration with Cole & Son. You can read the whole article here....

Luxury Anguilla Hotels, Rima Suqi, Architectural Digest
Anguilla hotels for Architectural Digest

A quick trip to Anguilla resulted in a round-up of luxury hotels on the Caribbean Island for Architectural Digest. The newest is the Aurora, which is a reimagining of the former Cuisinart property, I also included Cap Juluca, a Belmond hotel, Malliouhana, an Auberge Resort, and the Four Seasons (formerly the Viceroy, designed by Kelly Wearstler). You can read the entire piece here....
