But in 2019, after visiting a ceramics studio in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, she found a material that changed everything. “Clay feels so good in your hands, and you don’t need technical skills to make something awesome,” she says. “It is soft and fluid and a kind material versus metal, which is difficult to work with.”  Hers is a very interesting journey. Ono, who is now 92 years old, has always invited audiences to be part of her art, and this show continues that tradition. At a glance, it seems like a lovely cotton jacquard throw, with a pattern inspired by Persian carpet motifs and composed of various geometric shapes meant to evoke the topiaries of European gardens. The secret is cleverly hidden behind the larger shapes — but users will have to disfigure the blanket in order to experience it as intended. It is a stocky, solid walnut piece with doors wrapped in Italian cowhide. Those doors open (via hand-formed bronze handles) to reveal an interior that can be customized for the user’s needs. Options include bottle storage, wine racks, drawers and trays; the only fixed piece is the top shelf, which is clad in marble. But of course there’s more to it than that. - [Aline Asmar d’Amman's new collection/The New York Times](https://rimasuqi.com/aline-asmar-dammans-new-collection-the-new-york-times/): This is an awesome story. The designer, Aline Asmar d’Amman is an architect who is super-glam and has designed equally glamorous spaces and furniture, some with Karl Lagerfeld. But for this collection, she worked side by side with artisans at the Laboratorio Morseletto in Vicenza, Italy, and used simple ingredients: books that she has collected over the years, concrete, and scraps of marble and other stones. She has described the resulting pieces — shelves, pedestals, tables and bookends — as “contemporary archaeological compositions,” but some may see in them survivors of war. Read more here.

- [Delano Dubai in Galerie Magazine](https://rimasuqi.com/delano-dubai-in-galerie-magazine/): Duba­­i is a city of superlatives. It holds hundreds of Guinness Book of World Records for things ranging from the world’s largest mall (12.1 million square feet) to the tallest fountain (with sprays over 344 feet), tallest building (2,716 feet), and tallest hotel (75 floors, 1,168 feet). The Delano Dubai, in comparison, boasts a relatively diminutive 251 guest rooms, including 84 suites. Its penthouse is on the seventh floor, with all-encompassing water and city views that include the aforementioned buildings.
