“I wanted to challenge myself and design something that has an unexpected twist. Lighting made sense to me, explained Tung Chiang, Heath Clay Studio Director. “Light loves glass, because it’s transparent. But light and ceramic don’t gel. So the challenge is to push the ceramic so it can perform as a light.” Chiang was in New York City to introduce the collection – two sizes of table lamp and one pendant – to architects, interior designers and the press. All were designed by Chiang, hand thrown by a small group of craftspeople in the Heath Clay Studio in San Francisco, and available now. (There is a separate, made-to-order program for the trade, offering customization options, with a minimum spend). See the collection and read the full story here.
